Design of life and life’s design
No matter how high our ambitions are, how far our dreams reach, and how fast we want to get there, life has its own design and pace. It’s high time, we give priority to bringing design of life in alignment with life’s design.
We lost our way
Scientists discovered principles from nature’s behavior and engineers applied them to build tools. The tools we built helped us extend our natural capacities. We got used to the conveniences the tools brought to us and we became slaves to the tools.
We asked science for more: to fly higher and farther , to move faster, to aim accurately and to kill mercilessly.
Our needs grew. We needed more space to feel at home. We obsessed more about inventing the future than getting most out of the now. In pursuit of instant gratification we lost track of personal growth.
We stopped caring. In pursuit of self making we lost track of strengthening communities.
We even changed the meaning of a community. As we kept adding more and more communities online, we lost track of the core purpose of a community- to nurture, support, and strengthen each other through all of life’s ups and downs and life-stages.
My conscience challenges my creativity. I ask myself how do I reclaim what I lost?
Can we reinvent our path forward?
How might we restore our connection to the nature and to the natural instinct in us?
How might we cultivate relationships that are more enduring than Facebook friends and WhatsApp messages?
How might we build communities where work becomes secondary to living meaningfully, being creative becomes more important than being productive?
How might we liberate joy from greed?
How might we create community spaces that enable richer social interactions- conversations, eating, drinking , playing music, singing and dancing in the streets as opposed to clogging the streets with traffic?
How do we improve. our relationship with nature, so we see more of the sky than smog? So we see more birds in the sky and friendly wildlife in the neighborhood?
We need to give priority to bringing design of life in alignment with Life’s design.
